Advent finds us preparing for Christmas, but Mary began preparing for Jesus the moment she said “yes” to Gabriel. As the “yes” carried her to the first Christmas and beyond, Mary learned in very human and practical terms what her consent meant. What, then, does her story teach us about faith and trust, patience and hope, pain and perseverance? What parts of her story stir our souls—and why?
